Angels
I’m grateful for people.
Grateful for people who realize this is different.
Grateful for people who understand that this is hard.
Grateful for people who accept Payson for where he’s at and don’t hold him to the expectations of where he “should” be.
I say this all the time— but having Payson is like having a living Michelangelo cherub running around the house— except that he acts like Satan’s cavemen (#iykyk #nacholibre #toddlers)— but in all soberness, there are moments when I’m SURE that I’m having the unique experience of raising a living angel.
I think one of the things I’m discovering is that having a living special needs angel (or a literal angel on the other side) means that you’re constantly surrounded by angels— or maybe it just means your eyes are more open to seeing them.
I read a book a while ago called “Thou Shall Prosper” by Rabbi Daniel Lapin that really shattered my paradigms.
In it there’s a quote that says something like, “Look at all these people God has placed around me to serve me.”
That really stayed with me. I think about it all the time. Because it’s so true.
On a very basic level, our entire existence depends on us finding ways to serve and add value to other people’s life, and I think we’d be shocked to see how many people God has placed around us for that exact reason.
I am grateful for days like today when I feel glimmers of hope and having a special needs child doesn’t feel so hard— but almost feels magical.
I am grateful for everyone who has been part of his journey. Thank you for loving him and for supporting us 💛you have been our angels.
